Aux Trois Crayons-- 'with three pencils'

Aux Trois Crayons-- Literally meaning 'with three pencils', the 'aux trois crayons' technique is a traditional style for drawing using red, black, and white chalk, often on a tinted (cream) paper. The white chalk allows crisp highlights while the red chalk adds a touch of warmth to the picture, and the black chalk gives the drawing depth and richness. These three colors also mean that, with the creamy paper, skin tones in the drawing have warmth and life. I named my blog after this style of drawing because these three specific colors are used to bring pictures to life. And just like this drawing is brought to life through simple colors, I enjoy the small simple things in my life. It's the simple things in life you treasure.
